Under the Heritage in Schools Scheme Barefield school participates in a number of field trips to explore the local environment. In the past the school has visited such places as Ross Bach and Dromore Woods. The field trips to Ross Beach have been organised by local artist and environmentalist Carmel Madigan while the trips to Dromore have been coordinated by well-known wildlife expert Gordon D’Arcy.
