Barefield School participates in a wide range of games. Each child is encouraged to participate and enjoy a healthy and active time during their primary years. The school has been successful in many competitions over the years winning County titles in football, hurling and basketball in recent years. We have close links with our local club St. Joseph’s Doora-Barefield. Many of our past pupils have gone on to represent the “Parish” with great distinction. Our school year ends with our Annual Sports Day which is enjoyed by pupils and parents alike.

We currently have a club coach, Liam Clancy, who coaches hurling and football to all classes, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, during the school time. After School Coaching is also provided by the teachers on a voluntary basis throughout the year for Boys & Girls Football, Boys & Girls Basketball, Hurling, Camogie (Indoor & Outdoor), Handball, Tag Rugby, Soccer & Athletics.

There are also Swimming and Gymnastics programmes.
