Ms Baker and Ms. Clune's 5th classes and Ms. Corrigan and Mr Chambers' 6th classes held a virtual author visit through Zoom yesterday. 6th class investigated materials for Science Week 2020. We made a non-newtonian fluid using cornflour & water - apply pressure & it's a solid, let it relax and it's a liquid. We also investigated what happens when you combine an acid and a base and used it to make Carbon Dioxide.
Last week was National Maths Week. 6th Class engaged with lots of activities hosted on mathsweek.ie which highlighted just how important maths are for everyday life and the ubiquity of maths in our world. 2nd Class celebrated their First Communion ceremony in The Church of our Lady on Sat 8th Aug. The beautiful ceremonies were concelebrated by Fr. Jerry assisted by Méabh's uncle Fr. Aidan.
