The Barefield School Book Club runs each term for a specified class for six weeks. The Book Club members meet after school once a week between 3pm-4pm under Ms. Collins’ guidance.

Ms. Collins chooses a book suitable for the children and the book’s characters, themes and setting are discussed. The children are also encouraged to use a variety of Building Bridges Comprehension Strategies including Predicting, Visualising, Making Connections, Questioning, Clarifying, Declunking, Inferring, Determining Importance and Synthesising. On completion of the book, with support, the children learn how to write a book review.

Suitable for reluctant readers and avid readers, the Book Club is a fun way to nurture a love of reading and also develop children’s literacy skills.
