‘Twas the Night before School’: by anonymous

‘Twas the night before school, when all through ‘The Parish’, The school books are ready, Maths, English and Irish.
The school bags all lined by the door with care, Packed with lunchboxes, hand sanitizer and uniforms ready to wear.

The children are nestled, all snug in their beds, While visions of classmates dance in their heads.
After nearly 6 months of ‘life lessons’ at home, It’s time to go back and face the unknown.

COVID-19 came at us so fast,
Together we faced it and together we last.
Juggling home-schooling and home-working were far from ideal, But the parents all put their shoulders to the wheel.

Take a moment to consider this significant occasion, We are the first generation back to school after the lockdown of The Nation.
Well done to you all, you stayed home and stayed safe, And now its time to reopen the Barefield school gates.

The classrooms are ready, all cleaned and sanitised, Ready to welcome classes of all sizes.
The Pods are all spaced at least 1metre apart,
In hopes that our students will have a safe start.

Our staff are all ready to welcome you back, Enthusiasm and care they certainly don’t lack.
Our journey unchartered, the road ahead unclear, But working together, we’ll conquer our fear.

Who knows what the next year will bring for us all, But together we have shown we will answer the call.
So we look forward to seeing you all bright and early, Tomorrow is the start of a new chapter in History.
