It was a  brilliant, exciting day in Cusack Park, when Barefield N.S. hurlers won the Sean Harrington Cup by defeating Scariff N.S. in an enthralling and exciting Final.  All the hurlers played their hearts out and left nothing on the pitch. At full time the teams were level and the match had to go to extra time. It was really nail biting unreal entertainment for all the spectators. Finally, Barefield emerged victorious in a scoreline of 2.8 to 2.6. Francis Meaney, Captain, was presented with the cup by John O’Byrne. In his speeech, Francis thanked Scarriff N.S.  for a great game. Afterwards, in the dressing room, school Principal John Burns thanked the team for their character, doggedness, determination, sheer skill and their never give up will to win. He also thanked their coaches Mr. Robert Murray and Mr. Seán Burns for their coaching with the team.
