Tigh na Coille groups and bands had a great summer 2019. We had great help with arrangements and tutoring from Elvie Miller, Heidi & Brenn Liddy along with Derek Hickey and Eimear Coughlan.
The school ceili band qualified to play at the Munster fleadh which was held in Ennis in July. Our group under 15 won Munster and came in third at the all Ireland in Drogheda. While our group under 18 won Munster and came second at the all Ireland.
Congratulations to Shane Mescall who won the all Ireland mandolin under 12.
Darragh Whelan, Matthew Ryan and Jamie Garrihy won the trio under 18.
Paul Mullane got third place in Drogheda in the banjo under 18.
The groups featured many past pupils from Barefield NS who all learned how to play traditional Irish music with Denis Liddy, fiddler and teacher.
