It was an exciting and historical school day on Friday 13th December for the pupils of Barefield N.S.
Japanese Ambassador Mitsuru Kitano was especially invited to launch our Art Exhibition on Great Masters of the Ocean completed by our sixth class pupils under the tuition of our renowned local artist Carmel Madigan. The walls of our halla were adorned with unique and beautiful works of art based on the paintings of the Japanese Masters Hiroshige and Hokusai.
We were also delighted to welcome Minister Pat Breen,T.D., Siobhán Mulcahy Arts Officer Clare Co. Council, our local Councillors and members of our Board of Management and Parents’ Association. Our pupils entertained our guests with singing traditional Irish and Japanese tunes, traditional music played by our Céili Band and a Riverdance display by our Irish step dancers.
It was a most memorable day made possible by the excellent hard work of all our staff.
Míle buíochas to Carmel Madigan for all her hard work and for the wonderful artistic experiences she has imparted to our pupils.
