This week is Science Week and we have been learning all about sound, vibrations and sound waves. We completed the paper cup/phone experiment and the rice/drum experiment. Each pod also picked a scene and created their own sound effects to suit the scene using cubes, paper, plastic, pasta, rice and various other materials.
Members of the Green-Schools Committee are starting work on the school’s ninth theme- Global Citizenship: Travel. The ultimate aim of this theme is to continue our collaborative work with the Active School Committee on encouraging pupils to walk or cycle to school where possible. Yesterday our two first classes went on a 'Halloween Hunt' in their pods around the school. The children worked together to solve the spooky riddles. Great fun was had by all!
During the first few weeks of October the pupils have been working very hard on their history projects. The theme was THE STONE AGE. The pupils worked very hard on their projects and were able to present them to the class via the interactive white board. All the pupils participated and did their best.
Art inspired from our history lesson. The children enjoyed painting in orange, red, brown and black paint.
We are very grateful once more to all the parents that have supported this initiative this year. It allows the school to gain rewards from Scholastic. We are really looking forward to Halloween in First Class. Today we listened to spooky music and created creepy Halloween pictures. Each child presented their artwork to their classmates. They discussed the eerie additions that made their artwork super scary. Well done everybody!
